早過ぎるだろう！と思われるかもしれませんが、収穫がほぼ終了しました。
It may seem too early! But the harvest is almost over.
カベルネ・フランとカベルネ・ソーヴィニョンはまだ収穫していませんが、おそらく収穫量が50kgにも満たないので、作業は半日ぐらいで終わると思います。
We haven’t harvested the Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon yet, but the harvest is probably less than 50kg, so I think the work will take about half a day.
昨日、果実酒の仕込みもほぼ終了しました。
Yesterday, we almost finished preparing the fruit wine.
ブドウは全国共通で病害・害虫・害獣などで被害を受けましたが、とりあえずブドウを使った果実酒はできそうです。私が「ワイン」ではなく「果実酒」という言葉を使うのには理由がありますが、それは書かないことにします。
Grapes were damaged by diseases, pests, and vermin all over the country, but it looks like we can make “fruit wine” using grapes for now. There is a reason why I use the word “fruit wine” instead of “wine”, but I won’t write about it.
今年は、この「キタテハ（黄立羽）」という蝶が大発生していました。昼休みは食事を取りながら、毎日50匹くらいずつ捕殺をしました。
This year, there was a large outbreak of butterflies called “Polygonia c-aureum”. During my lunch break, I caught and killed about 50 of them each day.
スズメバチは、まだ温かいので、ブドウ樹にはそれほど来なかったので、5匹くらいしか捕殺できませんでした。
Because it was still warm, the hornets didn’t come to the grape vines very often, so I was only able to catch about five.
草刈りをしたら、動物の抜け道を見つけたので、捕獲罠を仕掛けてみました。
After mowing the grass, I found an escape route for animals, so I set up a trap to capture them.
2日後に「ハクビシン」という獣が捕獲できました。この獣はブドウの実を食いまくります。
Two days later, I was able to capture a beast called a “raccoon dog.” This beast is devouring the grapes.
この獣にシャルドネをほぼ一畑食い尽くされました。
This beast has almost completely eaten up an entire field of Chardonnay.
2週間連続で休みが無かったので、ようやくゆっくりできそうです。
After two weeks without a break, it looks like I can finally take it easy.
これからブドウ畑は来年に向けての準備に入ります。
Now we’ll start preparing the vineyards for next year.
