自分の好みのワイナリーを捜しに現地に出かけることにしました。
I decided to go out and look for a winery that suited my tastes.
Day 1 Nasu 661 Wine Hills
自宅から一般道を通って片道1時間半です。ダブリンからハイウエイを通らずにレイモンドまで行くイメージです。途中に食い物屋が結構あるので通っただけでお腹が減ります。
It’s an hour and a half one way from my house on local roads. It’s like going from Dublin to Raymond without taking the highway. There are quite a few food restaurants along the way, so just passing by makes me hungry.
このワイナリー、入口がものすごく分かり難いです。パッと見た目民家の裏口に通じているような細い道を入っていくんですが、初めての時は少しためらいます。すぐに視界が開けて、大きな建物が見えます。
The entrance to this winery is extremely hard to find. I entered a narrow road that at first glance looks like it leads to the back door of a private home, so it’s a bit hesitant the first time I go. But soon the view opens up and I can see a large building.
畑はとてもキレイです。垣根仕立てでブドウが植えられていて、畝間には雑草ではないカバークロップが植えられています。畑仕事がしたくなりました。
The fields are very beautiful. The grapes are planted in a hedge formation, and non-weed cover crops are planted between the rows. It made me want to work in the fields.
Day 2 つくばワイナリー TSUKUBA Winery
ここも自宅から1時間半です。畑がキレイです。植えてから数年の若い木が目立ちます。もう豊かな房をたくさんつけていました。数名の若い人たちが畑仕事をしていました。
This is also an hour and a half from my house. The fields are beautiful. The young trees, planted only a few years ago, stand out. They are already bearing abundant bunches of grapes. Several young people were working in the fields.
筑波山を眺めながらの畑仕事は気分が良さそうです。
Working in the fields while looking out at Mount Tsukuba must be a pleasant experience.
立派なワイナリーですが、私以外にお客さんはいませんでした。私もお客ではありません。It’s a fine winery, but there were no other customers there than me. I’m not a customer either.
Day 3 NASU Winey
自宅から1時間20分。街中にあるワイナリーです。130年の歴史があるそうで、日本遺産にもなっているようです。
It’s an hour and 20 minutes from my house. It’s a winery in the city. It has a history of 130 years, and is a Japanese heritage site.
ブドウ畑は幹線道路の横にあって、カラスの群れがブドウ畑の中を元気に遊んでいました。昔ながらの棚仕立てのブドウ樹と垣根仕立てのブドウ樹が同じ敷地で栽培されていました。
The vineyard is next to the main road, and a flock of crows were playing happily in the vineyard. Traditional trellis-trained grape vines and hedge-trained grape vines are grown on the same site.
私の他にも一組お客さんが来ていて、ワインを買って帰っていきました。私も1本買いました。2004年ヴィンテージのMerlot。6,600円（税込み）です。20年前の仕込みです。高いような安いような…。他にも飲んでみたいワインがあります。美味しければいいなぁ。
There was one other group of customers who came and bought some wine before leaving. I also bought a bottle. It’s Merlot from the 2004 vintage. It’s 6,600 yen (tax included). It was brewed 20 years ago. It seems expensive, but also cheap… There are other wines I’d like to try. I hope they’re delicious.
Day 4 Hinoe Winery
自宅から20分の所にあります。畑はどこにあるか分かりませんでした。
It’s 20 minutes from my house. I couldn’t find where the field was.
近くには「ろまんちっく村」というところがあります。20年振りぐらいに立ち寄りました（滞在時間5分）。
There’s a place called “Romantic Village” nearby. I stopped by for the first time in about 20 years (stayed for 5 minutes).
色々と高望みをしてしまうと、働く場所も選べなくなってしまいます。
If I have high expectations, I won’t be able to choose where I work.
まとめ Conclusion
ブドウの有機栽培をしているところを捜しましたが、自宅近辺にはありませんでした。
I tried to find a place that grows grapes organically, but there weren’t any near where I live.
そもそも有機農業自体、日本ではほとんど浸透していません。
To begin with, organic farming itself has hardly taken root in Japan.
初心に帰って、慣行農法でもいいからブドウ栽培を経験できるところに就職しようと思います。
I’m going to go back to basics and find a job where I can experience grape cultivation, even if it’s using conventional farming methods.
